MUSA Overtime Procedure for Tournament Games (Updated Fall 2007)

Pool Rules

In pool games (all games except the final), matches tied after regulation will remain tied. Teams will accumulate points for each game they play based upon the following scoring guide:

·         3 points for Win

·         1 point for Tie

·         0 points for Loss

At the end of pool play, if teams are tied on the basis of points earned, the pool winner will be determined in accordance with the following sequential criteria:

1.       Winner of Head to head competition (this criteria is NOT used if more than two teams are tied).

2.       Winner of most games.

3.       Goal Differential (For each game, goals scored minus goals against; then the differentials are totaled; there is a with a maximum of 4 per game)

4.       Fewest goals allowed

5.       Most goals allowed

Final (Played between the two Pool Winners)

The match may not remain tied at the end of regulation.  There will be a 2-minute rest period before sudden death overtime begins.  Overtime will consist of two 5-minute halves with a 2-minute rest period between halves.  Over time will begin with a coin toss and teams will switch ends of the fireld after half time. The first team that scores wins.

In the event that the score remains tied after sundden death overtime, the goalie will be removed from each team and the teams will play 5-minute “Goalden Goal” periods until the first team scores. There will be no break time between golden goal periods. Team will switch ends of the field between periods.

In the overtime and golden goal periods, there will be no substitutions except in case of injury.

These rules apply to all age groups.
